Okay... People may not like what I have to say... but I'm compelled to say it anyway - if only to get it off my chest.
Now, some readers may agree with what I have to say - and others - particularly those that I suspect live in the same place as me and who read this - will disagree.
You see - I really love the place I live in - but everyday I venture out amongst it, I can't help but see what's wrong with the place - how simple decisions (by both councils and governments and stupid people) impact on the quality of life people have who live here. In many cases - decisions which threaten the way of life people have a right to enjoy. Now I understand - this is not an isolated case - I'm sure it's happening all around the world in equally beautiful places where the residents feel helpless.
So, some people would read this will say that I'm the kind of guy who sees the world as a glass, half empty - but that's not true at all... I really see the world (and my piece of world which I live in) as half full. I understand that I live in a beautiful place - but I feel it threatened as would anyone living in the Amazon jungle right now...
It's just that I can't help but know that what I am seeing is what everyone else is seeing - but for one reason or another - they're not speaking up.
I live in a peaceful place within the greater city of Brisbane - which for those readers living outside of Brisbane - will not know that it is - by far - the most beautiful city in the world... Hey, everyday I can walk about 100 meters from my home and find myself at one of the most beautiful boardwalks in the world - overlooking a small bay of water that can change color before your very eyes each and surprise me with such beauty that it often takes my breath away... I'm close to public transport and wildlife sanctuaries - and all within 20 minutes from a city with over two million people!
So, I hear you ask - what'd wrong with this place?
Well, if you stick around - I'll tell you - the good, the bad and ugly truth.
